My Current Facebook Status

Today after school, I had plans to go visit my mom at to go out to eat with Matthew for a late Valentine's Day dinner. Instead, this is what happened:

had plans to go to Gaston County after school....came home around 5:30 and fell asleep in all of my teaching clothes while eating a piece of cold pizza...woke up thinking I had overslept for work. #firstyearteacherproblems

Immediately after posting this status, 3 of my teaching friends "liked" it.

At least I will be well rested for tomorrow instead of sleepy!

My Car is Cursed

On my old blog, I have several posts about my car drama (1 wreck, 3 flat tires, 1 dead battery, 1 bad ignition, and 1 stolen tag to date). On Wednesday, I had the strangest issue with my car.

Because of my ignition going out, I have a separate key for my ignition and for my doors/trunk. After school,, I keyed into my car, on the passenger side, power unlocked my doors with my button, walked around and got in on my side. I drove to the mall, got out, locked my doors, went in for about 10 minutes, then I went out to my car....AND MY DOOR/TRUNK KEY HAD FALLEN OFF MY KEYRING!!!!!!!!

I then spent about 30 minutes looking for my key (while it was freezing and my jacket was locked in my car). I was worried someone found it and would try and key into my car. I knew I had a spare at home to use on the doors, but I could not get into my car and drive home without my door key. I ended up calling AAA and the SAME GUY who rescued me earlier in January when I had a flat tire/dead battery on the same day and called AAA twice. He recognized my voice on the phone hahaha. He came and got into my car in less then 5 minutes, and I drove home and found my spare.

I was very worried that I lost it in the school parking lot, and I was worried someone would find my key and come back for my car (I teach in a not so great area of Charlotte). I called my school, and my AP told me to park in front of my classroom in the principal's spot so I could watch it from my classroom. Luckily when I went in, someone had found my key and turned it in! So now the lost key is found and safely back on my key ring. Matthew is making me get more spares now, ha.

Tag!

Renn tagged me in a survey! And I have nothing else to blog about because my day has not been that interesting.

1. What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday.
Sleeping in, not thinking about school, cleaning (ideally), and going out to eat like a normal adult with energy.

2. Which food do you wish could be calorie-free for all time?
All pasta, and Nutella. There is nothing like eating Nutella after a rough day at school, but when I am eating by the spoonful and its 200 calories a tablespoon, I tend to feel really guilty about eating it ha.

3. What is your favorite Christmas gift from childhood?
The nutcracker that I got in second grade. I had just watched the ballet, and I was sooo obsessed with it. That was also the Christmas that I discovered that nutcrackers actually crack nuts (I am not sure how I had missed this connection before).

4. If you could be a parent of as many children as you wanted, how many would you have?
19 kids and counting....hahahaha. I think Matt and I will discuss this topic 2 years past our wedding date!

5. Who is your favorite Disney princess?
Sleeping Beauty (Aurora).

6. What's one of your favorite stories in the Bible and why?
I will never forget learning the story of the house that had been founded upon a rock in Vacation Bible School way back in 1998. My mom and uncle taught my class, and we made houses on rocks out of milk cartons and clay, then tested them. Later on, when I joined Gamma Phi Beta, I learned that it was the official bible verse/story for our sorority! It has a lot of meaning for me.

7. What is one item you feel you couldn't live without.
I will agree with Renn....my hair straightener! I was such hot mess in high school before I started straightening it. I just feel gross when I cannot straighten it and fix it, and end up putting in a ponytail, which puts me in a gross/miserable mood the rest of the day. I am super pumped that I now own a Chi! It was a Christmas present to me from me this year, and it was BOGO at Ulta so I got a curling iron with it for free!

8. What did you want to be when you grew up and do you think you will ever be that.
On my first day of Kindergarten, I told my mom I wanted to go to Harvard (how did  I know what that was???) to be a Kindergarten teacher just like my teacher, Mrs. Climmer. I am now a first year kindergarten teacher and I love it!

9. What is the worst/most embarrassing CD/Albums you've ever owned and do you still have it?
Aaron Carter, featuring "That's How I Beat Shaq."

10. What would you call yourself if you could choose your own name?
The original name my parents planned for me was Laura, and I always told my mom I liked that name better because I went to school with 6 Holly's ha.

11. What is your favorite item of clothing and why?
My awesome blue Nike shorts. They look awesome with my new Nike Airs, and they are SO comfy after being in  my classroom all day!
