Embarrassing Classroom Moment

So this past Wednesday, I had a super embarrassing moment in my classroom. I had a minor accident that resulted in Matthew coming to get me and taking me to Urgent Care.

This is not the first time Matthew has had to come get me from school for an accident. Last time, an intercom fell off my classroom wall and landed on my head (like a heavy wooden box intercom form the 1970s). That time, no one was in my classroom to witness the accident. This was not the case on Wednesday.

On Wednesday morning, I went to file some copies in my filing cabinet. I opened up the drawer, stepped back when I slid it open, and fell completely over on my face. A child had come up behind me and laid down on the ground (he said he was sleepy and wanted to lay down). I did not know that he was there, and my entire class saw all of this go down. I expected the kids to go "OMG are you okay??" however, they all laughed! (5 year old me would have laughed too though). It was a sad, terrible moment for me, ha.

The nurse checked it out and I cried to my AP. He asked if my foot hurt that bad and my exact response was "My pride hurts Mr. P, my pride hurts."

I ended up having a sprain and had to be on crutches for a few days. Teaching Kindergarten on crutches is no fun! Next time I need to be on crutches I'm calling in for a sub, ha.

Relaxing Saturday Night

After spraining my ankle this week in my classroom and being on crutches, I did not want to do anything this weekend other then lay around and be really, really lazy.

Last night, I came home from work pretty late (end-of-year formative preparations, woooo!) and passed ohhh around 9:30 and slept soundly until 10:30 this morning. Then Matthew forced me to go eat Cracker Barrel with him. Do you ever want to decorate your house with the things they have in the dining rooms? I kept looking around thinking about how cute something would be in my kitchen/living room, ha.

After Cracker Barrel, I did MULTIPLE loads of laundry. I have enough clothes that I can not wash any for weeks and be perfectly fine, so basically it's been a while since I have done laundry. I have done 3 loads of clothes/towels/sheets and still have about oh 3 more to go.

I probably would have gotten the rest done, but Matthew wanted to go to Bass Pro Shop together so he could potentially apply for a part-time job. We forgot that there are two car events going on in Concord and that traffic/the mall would be packed. We walked into BPS for literally 10 minutes and got out of the mall as fast as we could.

We knew we wanted to eat out for dinner, but we were avoiding Concord at all costs. We ended up going to Plate in Harrisburg. It's a newer place (it replaced something else). It's kind of funny because the kitchen for Plate is also the kitchen for 2 other restaurants (Winedown and Main Street Deli). We are not sure if they just mutually share or if they are all owned by the same person. While we were at our table, we kept seeing plates of fruit and cheese going to Winedown, ha. Our food was actually pretty amazing-we both had the specials. Mine was asparagus, smashed potatoes, scallops, and filet medallions. Matt had mushrooms, a ribeye, and smashed potatoes. I am pretty sure that we'll be going back there a LOT before we move up to Hendersonville when we are married.

After dinner, we went to Jos. A. Banks to pick out groomsmen outfits. We were done in ohhh about 8 minutes. WAY easier then picking out bridesmaid dresses (Matthew got out lucky).

Now Matthew and I are watching Family Guy and laying on his couch. I am designing worksheets for literacy centers this week.

Sight word roll and color, which you can buy {here}.

We have been such cool kids tonight!

Engagement Picture Failure

So Matthew and I got engaged in ohhh November, and we have planned to take our engagement pictures with this amazing photographer in Hendersonville since January. It is really hard to take pictures, because we have to travel up to Hendersonville from Charlotte to do it. And it doesn't help that every time we schedule a session, something happens.

The first 3 times, both of us were sick. Once Matthew had like Strep Throat, and then his ear drum burst. Another time we had scheduled, I caught Pnuemonia. Then our photographer was about to have her baby, and I did not want to make her take outdoor pictures in cold weather when she was about to have a baby (because that is not healthy). Then her baby came, and he was very ill and in the hospital for the first month of his life. And I DID NOT want to ask her to take our pictures during that time, because I just felt like she needed to be taking care of her children and worrying over the new little one.

Well, it finally came down to taking pictures today. I had my teeth cleaned this morning, had my eyebrows waxed, packed my bags, and headed up the mountain.

On the way up, I thought I was about to have a meltdown because a State Trooper came up behind me really fast, so I thought I was being pulled over and started having a panic attack. I slowed and went to pull over on the side of the road, and he honked his horn at me. Then I moved out of his way, and he blew by me. A little further up the road, there was a car on the side of the road with emergency flashers on and it looked like the trooper was giving someone CPR or something on the side of the road.

I finally started going up the mountain, and the sky opened up and it poured rain. Matthew and I reached the conclusion we would not be taking pictures today because of the rain.

Well, it turned out the rain was a blessing because it prevented me from having a crying tantrum while getting ready for pictures. It turns out I brought 4 pairs of shoes for my pictures....but left all of my dresses hanging up in Charlotte....Oooops.

Pray that we can get them done again this weekend!
